The Illini Service Dog Program is a Registered Student Organization at the University
of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign that was founded in 2010 by Bridget Evans. Our mission is to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities through community education, advocacy, and service dogs. Students are provided the opportunity to foster and train a service dog for a person with a physical disability. By the time the dogs graduate from our program, they know over 40 commands. After the service dog has completed training, the dog is placed with a person with a disability free of charge. Students will have the enriching experience of training a dog for a person with a disability while gaining knowledge of disability culture and disability rights.
